The non-waiver trade deadline has come and gone. Lets take a look at the 2016 World Series odds and pennant lines following today’s acquisition. We should mention that we are taking these lines from a non-American sportsbetting website that deals square lines. You should approach these with a grain of salt. We will release a more detailed article tomorrow morning when high-limit sites post their updated futures prices. Lets take an early look at the post-deadline 2016 World Series odds.
2016 World Series Odds
The Chicago Cubs are the current league-favorite sitting at +300. They acquired relief pitcher Joe Smith, closer Aroldis Chapman, and lefty Mike Montgomery this week. Second-in-line are the San Francisco Giants who picked up LHP Matt Moore from the Rays for 3B Matt Duffy and prospects. They are currently priced at +450. The Washington Nationals have the third shortest 2016 World Series odds at +550. They remained relatively quiet at the deadline only trading for Pirates’ closer Mark Melancon.
The Texas Rangers have the shortest odds of any American League team at +650. They were one of the most active teams this deadline acquiring Travis Demeritte, Jeremy Jeffress, and Jonathan Lucroy. The teams following them include the Cleveland Indians (+750), Toronto Blue Jays (+1000), and Boston Red Sox (+1100).
